Replas Ltd worked as a small but integral part of this multi-million pound project in the heart of London's east end.
The main contractor, Apollo London Ltd, was appointed to carry out a total refurbishment of the entire estate with works to include: Flat to pitch roof conversion, new lift housings, external insulation and associated renders, concrete repairs, bathroom and kitchen replacement and landscaping. Replas Ltd maintained programme throughout this project and completed all works some six weeks ahead of the anticipated completion date.
Throughout this contract all the tenants remained in their properties. This proved to be a test of all the appointed subcontractors’ management skills, not least Replas Ltd, as "Open Gritblasting" was the method used to expose the concrete substrate and, therefore, was one of the first processes to be carried out. Working closely with the main contractor's Tenant Liaison Officer, this extremely disruptive operation was carried on all eight blocks without incident.
After the on-site surveys, hand placed repair mortars were utilised, followed by levelling mortar. A migrating corrosion inhibitor was also used during this project to minimise the repair required whilst not compromising the structural integrity and expected lifespan of the dwellings. |
